Spots are about gone but Mullets and Trout are being caught off and on all day long.

The sun actually came out today for a little bit and lots of Mullets and Pompano were caught. Spots, Pinfish, Flounder, Trout, Dogfish, Skates, White Perch and Blues rounded out the rest of the catch.

 

October 26, 2009

We were hit with wind, rain and clouds but fishermen still caught Spots and Mullets off and on all day long. Dogfish, White Perch , some Blues, Pinfish and Skates were also caught. During the night runs of Mullets were encountered and some coolers were filled.

 

October 6, 2009

Once again off and on rains spoiled the day but not as bad as yesterday. In spite of this, Spots and Mullets were caught all day with some coolers being completely filled. Adding to the catch was some Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Trout, Pinfish and Croakers.

 

September 26, 2009

The heavy rains, wind and surf effected fishing today but Spots were still being caught at a pretty good clip between the monsoons. Blues, Flounder, Black Drum, Pinfish and Mullets were also being caught.

 

 September 24, 2009

Another King Mackerel was caught off the end that weighed 18 pounds. Spots are hitting all day long with some very good runs off and on. Blood worms and fresh shrimp are the preferred bait. Mullets, Pinfish, Ribbonfish, Flounder, Blues and some Spanish Mackerel rounded out the catch.

 

September 18, 2009

Fishermen were starting to catch Spots today with the activity picking up in the evening. They were biting shrimp and bloodworms. Bluefish and Spanish were biting all day but had slowed down a bit. Pompano, Flounder, Pinfish and some Mullets continued to bite.

 

September 17, 2009

The King fisherman are continuing their good fishing by getting three more King Mackerels on the deck today. Some huge Spanish Mackerel and all sizes of Blues were caught off and on all day with a flurry of activity just before dark. Flounder, Pinfish, Pompano, some Mullets and Yellow-tailed Jacks were also caught.

 

September 16, 2009

Two King Mackerels were caught off the end today, with one of them weighing in at 41 pounds. Blues (some big) and Spanish Mackerel were caught off and on all day. Some Spots, Pompano and Pinfish were also caught.

 

September 6, 2009

Spanish Mackerel and Blues were caught off and on all day long. Flounder, Spots, some Mullets, Pinfish, Ribbonfish and some Black Drum added to the catch.

 

September 4, 2009

Lots of baitfish schools are heading south around the pier and should be bringing in some Kings, Blues and Spanish Mackerel. Fishermen were having some pretty good catches of Flounder and some nice Black Drum were pulled in. Spots, Mullets, Yellow-tailed Jacks, Blues, Spanish Mackerel, Pinfish and Pompano were also caught.

 

 September 2, 2009

We are starting to see some early signs of the fishing picking up with the water starting to cool off. Small Spots, Mullets (some nice Virginia Mullets), Flounder, big Black Drum, Pompano, Yellow-Tailed Jacks, Red Drum, Blues and Pinfish are being caught. A 5 ½ pound Spanish Mackerel was also hauled in off the end today.

 

August 9, 2009

No Kings were caught off the end, but some nice Spanish Mackerel were hauled in instead. Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, some Spots, small Croakers and Pinfish were caught along the pier today. Some nice catches of Mullets were made by fishermen during night time fishing.

 

 August 8, 2009

Although we are in the hot and slow part of August, some keeper Trout, Flounder and Spanish Mackerel were caught today.  Pinfish, White Perch, Bluefish and small Croakers were also caught. Off the end, 2 King Mackerel and 1 Barracuda were pulled up on the deck.

 

July 7, 2009

It was a big day for the King fishermen as 6 or 7 Kings were caught today. Spanish Mackerel were still being caught as well as Flounder, Trout and some Spots.

 

June 30, 2009

Some Black Drum and Trout were caught in the morning. Spanish Mackerel and small Blues were caught with Gotcha plugs and diamond jigs. Some Croakers, Spots and Pinfish were also caught. Off the end of the pier, some nice Spanish were  hooked and landed. The King fishermen also saw some Tarpon cruising by but didn’t get any hits. 

 

June 26, 2009

The King fishermen had a little action today, catching some Sharks and having a close encounter with a King. Trout and some Flounder were caught using live shrimp and fishing mostly in the morning. Spots are starting to show up with Sheephead, small Croakers, Pinfish and White Perch adding to the mix.

 

June 20, 2009

There were Trout being caught with live shrimp and some Spots, Mullets, White Perch and Blues being pulled in today. The King fishermen lost a nice Tarpon after a 40 minute battle and did catch some Sharks.

 

June 17, 2009

Spots were starting to be caught, along with some Blues, Mullets, White Perch and small Sharks. Some big Blues were caught off the end by the King fishermen.

 

June 2, 2009

Some Black Sea Bass, Mullets, Hogfish, Pompano, small Cobia and Flounder were caught today. Spanish and Blues continue to be caught in small numbers all day long. Off the end of the pier, a King Mackerel and Hatteras Blue were caught.

 

June 1, 2009

The water is clearing and there was a run of Spots in the morning. Blues and Spanish were caught sporadically all day long. Mullets, Pompano, Sharks and some small Flounder were also caught.

 

May 23, 2009

The nice days are finally back for Memorial day. Fishing was slow but steady and a variety of fish were caught. Today some nice Flounder were caught in the surf and Mullets, Pompano, Croakers and some Spots were also caught. Spanish Mackerel and Blues were caught sporadically all day long. The first King Mackerel of the year was caught off the end of the pier and it weighed 16 pounds.

 

May 7, 2009

It was a windy day with some thundershowers but Black Drum, Mullets, Blues and Spanish were caught off and on. The King fishermen managed to catch several large Chopper Blues.

 

April 30, 2009

Blues were hitting off and on all day but especially in the late afternoon until dark when everybody was catching all they wanted. Spanish Mackerel did really well today around noon time and in the late afternoon. Gotcha plugs and diamond jigs worked well for both. The Mullet catch was limited mostly to the night when some coolers were filled by lucky anglers.

 

April 26, 2009

Once again Mullet fishing was slow but steady all day until picking up late in the evening. Nighttime fishing has produced a lot of nice coolers full of Mullets. Bluefish were off and on with noontime and late afternoon producing the most catch. Spanish Mackerel were caught in the afternoon and late evening.

 

April 25, 2009

The Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel bite was slow but picked up in a hurry in the late evening near the end of the pier. The Mullet bite was also slow but steady until picking up in the late afternoon. Lots of nice Mullets were caught after dark and some coolers were filled. The King Fishermen got out today and were rewarded with some large Bluefish.

We are catching Bluefish pretty much all day but not as good as yesterday. Our first Spanish Mackerel was caught today and several others followed! Mullets have been steady and slow but usually are a nice size. The weather has been nice but a little windy in the evening.

Large Bluefish are now being caught mainly in the morning and using Gotcha plugs. The Mullet bite is slow but steady and a lot of nice sized fish are being caught. Blowfish and Sharks round out the rest of the catch.

A little windy today, but fishermen caught Mullets, Sharks, Stingrays and small Bluefish.

 

April 15, 2009

Well, the water temperature is now at the 60 degree mark which means fishing will be picking up. The weather is getting nicer and warmer and hopefully the rain will let up a little bit to let the water clear. Fishermen are catching some Grey Trout and Spots. The main catch now is Black Drum and Mullets. Mullets are biting best on fresh shrimp which can be purchased now at the pier house.

The weather is getting nicer and nicer and spring is here! Fishing is slowly getting better and Mullets and Black Drum are being caught. The water temperature is now 58 degrees, so it looks like we will hit the magic 60 degree mark soon.

The restaurant/grill on the top floor has been renovated and is finished. It is now open to the public for breakfast and lunch. The pier shop on the bottom floor has also been renovated and repainted. Passes, including season passes can be bought at either location.
