The winds and waves calmed down and fishing picked up even more. Spots were everywhere and lots of coolers got filled. There was lots of Black Drum caught in the surf mostly by using fresh cut shrimp. Trout, Flounder, Mullets, Bluefish, Pompano, Ladyfish and Puppy Drum were also caught.

It was windy today with waves crashing all along the pier. However, fishermen caught lots of Black Drum, some very nice Mullets and Puppy Drum. Flounder, Pompano, Spots and Trout added to the mix.

 

September 30, 2008

The water turned a little dirtier but Spanish Mackerel and Blues continue to be caught with Gotcha plugs and diamond jigs. Black Drum catches slowed down but were supplemented with catches of Puppy Drum. Small Mullets, some Spots, Flounder, Yellow-Tailed Jacks, Pinfish, and Pompano were caught as well. Off the end 2 King Mackerel were landed along with Sharks taking some of the baits.

 

September 27, 2008

The weather was nice and there were lots of baitfish in the water. This resulted in many Bluefish being caught and some nice Spanish Mackerel catches as well. Spots are finally here with many fishermen getting in on the action. Pompano, Black Drum, Yellow-Tailed Jacks, Puppy Drum, Flounder and Sheephead rounded out the rest of the catch today. Off the end of the pier fishermen caught Sharks and a 24-pound King Mackerel.

Another hot day in the 90’s with more wind making the water a little dirtier. The King fishermen were catching Sharks again and were enjoying the weather and companionship. Puppy Drums were still being caught in the surf mostly with minnows. Spanish Mackerel, Blues, Pinfish and Sheephead rounded out the rest of the list.

A very nice day but fishing on the end is still slow with just a few Sharks. Bluefish, mixed with some Spanish Mackerel were being caught all day long. Pinfish, Pompano and Puppy Drum were also being caught.

 

August 16, 2008

One of the King fishermen pulled in a nice 35 pound King Mackerel, which by the way, would have won about $8,000 in the Snead’s Ferry King tournament! Some very large Blues are being caught along with Flounder, Mullets, Pinfish, Trout and Black Drum. Spanish Mackerel continue to be caught on white Gotcha plugs and silver and gold diamond jigs. Some very large Spanish that required nets or lots of pulling were caught today.

The Spanish Mackerel are here! Fishermen are catching lots of Spanish, but unfortunately a lot of them are too small. However, plenty of legal sized and really big ones are being caught as well. Some nice Trout are still being caught on live shrimp and Flounder, Mullets, Sheephead and Pinfish are being pulled in.

The King fishermen had a productive day and landed 2 King Mackerels. Trout, some keeper Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Pinfish, small Bluefish and Mullets were also caught.

It was a busy day at the end of the pier as King fishermen caught 2 King Mackerels and 1 Tarpon. Trout are still being caught with live shrimp and Blues, Pinfish and Flounder were also caught.

Fishermen are still catching nice Speckled Trout using live shrimp mostly in the morning hours. Some Spanish Mackerel and Blues are being caught on and off all day long. Black Drum, Pompano, Pinfish, Croakers, some Sheephead , and Flounder are also being caught

A King Mackerel was caught on the end along with some Sharks. Flounder and Trout were being caught using live shrimp. A few Spanish were caught along with Bluefish, Pinfish, Mullets, Spadefish and some Spots.

The weather was a little bit cooler but the fishing also slowed down some too. A few Spots were starting to be caught along with the usual Blues, some Sheephead, Black Drum, Pinfish, some Mullets and a few Spanish Mackerel.

Fishermen were catching lots of Blues and Spanish (some Spanish pretty big – 1 to 2 pounds). Pompano, Black Bass, some small Sharks and Trout were also being caught.

Lots of limits of Spanish Mackerel with Blues thrown in were being caught with Diamond jigs. Trout catch slowed down a little bit but fishermen using live shrimp continue their success. White Perch, some Mullets, Sharks, Pinfish and a few small Flounder were being caught by bottom fishing.

Some nice Trout continue to be caught by fishermen using live shrimp. Flounder, some Spots and Croakers, Pinfish, some Mullets, Sharks, and White Perch are also being caught. Blues and Spanish Mackerel are being caught on a regular basis using Gotcha plugs in the morning and Diamond jigs in the evening.

It was a nice sunny day with very little wind but the fishing slowed down some. Six Kings were caught at the end of the pier and some of the Trout fishermen near the surf caught four Cobias. Some very nice Trout were caught by fishermen using live shrimp. Blues and Spanish Mackerel were caught off and on all day using Gotcha plugs and Diamond jigs. Flounder, Spots, Black Drum, Jack Crevalles, Pompano, some Mullets and Pinfish were also caught.

Another nice day netted more Blues and Spanish Mackerel with some really nice ones landed on the pier. Three Kings were caught off the end and they lost one more. Some Pompano and Spots were caught with Trout and Flounder added to the mix.

The weather has finally turned nice and the water has cleared up. Today we saw our first Spots caught off bottom rigs. Some Kings and large Hatteras Blues were caught off the end of the pier. Blues and Spanish Mackerel were caught off and on all day with Gotcha plugs working in the morning and Diamond jigs working better in the afternoon. Some really nice Speckled Trout were caught using live shrimp for bait. Some nice Flounder, Black Drum and White Perch were also taken.

It was windy and rainy and the water was very dirty on Saturday. Just when Spanish and Blues and other fish were just starting to bite in pretty good numbers, the weather turned sour on us. Some Blues, White Perch, Black Drum and a few Mullets were caught. Still catching a few Hatteras Blues at the end of the pier by the King fishermen.

Blues are still biting all day long but now we are also catching Spanish Mackerel. Mullets, Sharks, White Perch, Trout, and Black Drum are also being caught. Big Hatteras Blues were caught at the end of the pier and by bottom fishing near the surf.

Mullets were being caught during the day and some good catches were made at night. Bluefish were being caught all day mostly using Gotcha plugs. Some Trout and Black Drum were caught during the day with some nice keepers being brought in.

We have Blues, Blues and more Blues. They are starting to get bigger and were biting off and on all day long. They are biting on Gotcha plugs and occasionally on diamond jigs. Some Sharks and Rays are also being caught. Spanish Mackerel should not be too far behind.

Although the weather report called for rain and thunderstorms, they never appeared. Consequently, everybody got in a good day of fishing. Blues, Sharks, White Perch, small Flounder, Trout and lots of Mullets were caught all day. Lots of huge Hatteras Blues were caught during the day by the King Fishermen and while bottom fishing near the surf.

It was a bit windy today, but Blues and Mullets were caught off and on all day.  Sharks, small Flounder, White Perch and some Trout were also caught. A lot of big Hatteras Blues were caught in  the surf and on the end of the pier.

Mullets, some Pompano, small Flounder, some Trout, Sharks, and some Black Drum are being caught now. The weather has really been great and if conditions stay the same, the water should warm up nicely. Blues were being caught all day with some heavy runs in the late afternoon. Some of the Blues and Mullets  that were caught were really nice sized.

Bluefish are back in full force being caught on a regular basis with Gotcha plugs and diamond jigs. Off the end, some big chopper Blues have been hooked but not landed by the King fishermen. Mullets, Blowfish, Sharks and some Trout were also caught today.

Lots of wind today but Mullets were still being caught with some very big ones making it to the coolers. Lots of Blowfish and some Blues, Stingrays and Sharks were also caught.

Blowfish, Sharks, Rays, Dogfish and some Mullets were being caught in the morning. However, when the wind started picking up in the afternoon the Mullet fishing picked up quite a bit and some Bluefish were also being caught.

It was a windy day but Mullets were being caught on a regular basis with some coolers being filled. Blowfish are now starting to be caught with a mixed bag of Rays, Sharks and some Blues being brought in.

With a water temperature of almost 58 degrees, the Mullets have decided to start to coming in. Although it has been spotty, Mullets are being caught on a regular basis now. Sharks, Rays, Dogfish and Skates are still adding to the mix.

It was kind of a mix of sun and clouds today with some wind. The only fish caught were Sand Sharks and Skates. The water temperature is up to 54 degrees, so it looks like it will be a couple of weeks before we hit the magic 60 degree mark.

The restaurant/grill on the top floor is open to the public for breakfast and lunch only. The pier shop on the first floor opened up on a part time basis February 18, 2008. Passes, including season passes may be bought at either location.
